Community Outreach
The Chicago Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience is dedicated to:
- providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and information and ideas between Chicago-area neuroscientists
- offering educational resources and opportunities for teachers, students and the public at large through community outreach
In support of these efforts, the Chicago Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience is a big sponsor of several neuroscience outreach events and organizations:
- Our chapter sponsors Northwestern University Brain Awareness Outreach (NUBAO); each year NUBAO designed to bring scientists, teachers, students, and the public together to learn about and discuss the latest advances in Neuroscience research and education
- Our chapter collaborates with the Chicago Council on Science and Technology (C2ST) to bring neuroscience to the public
- Our chapter sponsors the annual Chicago Brain Bee, which gives area high schools students an opportunity to learn and demonstrate their knowledge about brain science
Contact the Chapter Secretary for more information about these events.
These efforts are supported by volunteers and members. We also accept support in the form of contributions from the community. If you or your organization would like to become a sustaining member and part of this ongoing mission, you can become a sponsor.
